Marshall Scholarship

Marshall Scholarships finance young Americans of high quality to study for degree in the United Kingdom.

It is a highly competitive program of British educational awards, were established by an act of Parliament in 1953 as a measure of Great Britain gratitude to the people and government of the United States for assistance received through the postwar European Recovery Program (Marshall Plan).

The Marshall Scholarships named in honor of General George C. Marshall. Marshall served a primary military advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt during World War II.

The British Marshal Scholarships were created to continue the work of the Rhodes Scholarships by providing young American leaders the opportunity to study in Britain.

The Marshal Scholarship is open only to United States citizens who (at the time they begin their scholarship) hold a first degree from an accredited four year college or university in the United States with a minimum GPA of 3.7.
