London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine now has firmer links and greater knowledge of the tropics and hygiene than in the pioneering days of Ronald Ross and Patrick Manson 85 years ago.

The primary founder of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine was Patrick Manson who had serve as medical officer in Formosa, Amoy and Hong Kong.

London School of Hygiene and Tropical is a public research university and a center of excellence, a component of the University of London.

It is one of the most prestigious institutions worldwide in the field of tropical medicine. With its expertise in a wide range of tropical disease, especially malaria, it has become an international teaching house and research center for such matters.

It draws to London, large numbers of overseas students for its courses on, and research in epidemiology, medical microbiology, hepatitis, helminthology and parasitology.

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Johns Hopkins in Baltimore United States were the principal centers for the Rockefeller Foundations International Health Boards campaign for worldwide improvements in public health through applied medical science and education.
